China's state media say a small family-run restaurant in Beijing is enjoying a surge in business after U.S. Vice President Joe Biden stopped by for a lunch of steamed buns and noodles.

The Global Times newspaper reported Monday that customers have been lining up to get into the restaurant since it was featured in reports on the vice president's 5-day visit to China, which ended Monday.

One customer told the newspaper he traveled more than 50 kilometers from neighboring Shandong province because he thought it would be “cool” to eat at the same place as Mr. Biden. Several customers have asked to be served “the vice president's meal.”

However, there is no indication that Mr. Biden sampled the restaurant's signature dish, known in Chinese as Chao Gan. It consists of pork liver, lungs and intestines served in a broth.
