A bomb blast at the United Nations building in Nigeria's capitol, Abuja, has killed at least 10 people.

Witnesses report seeing a vehicle force its way past security at the U.N. compound and explode once it reached the four-story building.

The U. N. has confirmed that a bomb caused the explosion, which took place about 11 a.m. local time on Friday.

Witnesses say rescuers raced to pull bodies and survivors from the rubble at the compound.

Reports say about 400 people work inside the building, which is located near other diplomatic offices, including the U.S. embassy.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
