An American citizen has been killed and another wounded in a shooting incident at a U.S. Embassy annex in Kabul.

An embassy spokesman ((Gavin Sundwall) said Monday an Afghan employee of the U.S. government carried out the attack late Sunday in the Afghan capital, and that the attacker was killed. Officials did not give a motive for the shooting, and there has been no immediate claim of responsibility.

Western media quoted officials as saying that the embassy annex was used by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency .

The wounded U.S. citizen was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident comes less than two weeks after militants launched a coordinated assault on several high-profile targets in the capital, including the U.S. embassy and NATO headquarters. Nine people were killed in a nearly day-long siege.

Also Monday, a NATO service member was killed in a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan. Neither the name nor the nationality of the victim was released.

In another attack Sunday, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a local police headquarter in eastern Paktika province, killing two policemen and wounding two civilians.
