Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar slipped against the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained one percent , to close at 8,605.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.67 yen, down slightly from late Thursday.

Gold was selling at $1,652.80 an ounce.
