A helicopter in New Zealand crashed Wednesday while helping to install a Christmas tree on Auckland's waterfront. The pilot escaped serious injury.

Dramatic footage captured by New Zealand television shows the pilot slowly descending from about eight meters when the helicopter's rotor blades appear to get caught in cables attached to scaffolding.

The rear of the helicopter snaps and the pilot is tossed about as the helicopter smashes into the ground.

Although the incident took place in a heavily populated area, there were no serious injures reported on the ground.

The pilot managed to walk away from the scene.
