Architects and snow sculptors are to begin building a “snow city” in the Russian capital, Moscow.

Russian media Thursday said 20 groups of designers and 20 groups of builders will put together a city that includes structures such as a hotel, a fitness club and a prison, all located on a 2,500-meter stretch of land in a public park.

The creators are expected to use 1,000 cubic meters of snow and 500 blocks of ice as they complete the project over the next five days.

The city is being built as part of a festival of “snow architecture” held during the cold winter months in the Russian capital.
