Pakistani security officials say two foreign aid workers were kidnapped in the city of Multan in central Punjab province Thursday.

The officials said one of the people kidnapped was Italian, while the identity of the other is not known.

Italy's Foreign Ministry confirmed the abduction of an Italian citizen in Multan.

No one immediately claimed responsibility.
