The U.S. nuclear energy agency ordered a reactor at a California power plant shut down Wednesday because of a possible radiation leak.

Officials say radiation may have escaped from a pipe Tuesday at the San Onofre plant near San Diego in southern California.

Regulators say any leak would have been of a very low level and that the public was never in danger. An investigation is under way.
