The air forces of Thailand, the United States and Singapore are testing their readiness and ability to operate together in a large military exercise at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base.

U.S. exercise director Colonel Marc Caudill explained that during the two-week exercise, called Cope Tiger 12, more than 1,600 combined service members and civilians are learning how to respond to a full spectrum of crises, from humanitarian and disaster response to potential regional security threats.

Airmen from the three countries are also stepping away from flight operations to visit nearby schools and strengthen relationships with local Thai communities. The airmen have participated in sporting activities, English discussions and cultural exchanges at local secondary schools.

The annual exercise concludes on March 23.
