U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Tel Aviv for talks likely to focus on the stalled Middle East peace process and political upheaval in places like Syria and Egypt.

Clinton is to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Later, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad will meet with Clinton at her hotel in Jerusalem.

The U.S. secretary of state arrived Sunday in Israel after spending two days in Egypt, pledging $1 billion in U.S. economic aid to its struggling young government.

She met with newly-elected President Mohamed Morsi and Egyptian military chief Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi and stressed the importance of protecting the rights of all Egyptians, including women and religious minorities.
