Foreigners might think of Americans as people who only eat hamburgers and hot dogs, but a new map suggests diversity is key when it comes to popular cuisines across the United States.
America is a land of immigrants and that ethnic mix is reflected in the most popular foods in each state.
People who live in North Dakota like their German food while Michigan residents prefer Mideastern cuisine. New Yorkers eat Kosher while Nevada has Filipino food on the menu. In the American South, southern cuisine remains popular across eight states.
Using information gathered from Yelp, the online restaurant listing and review website, The Huffington Post came up with a map showing the most disproportionately popular cuisines in each state.
The map below doesn’t show the most popular cuisine in each state, but rather which food outperforms others in the state as compared to the national average.
So stupid. Not accurate. IL, Pakastani? NO, pizza!!
I agree with you. There is no intelligent thought behind this map.
For those of you complaining that so-and-so is not on the map, you must have failed remedial English when you failed to read the past that says, and I quote: “The map below doesn’t show the most popular cuisine in each state, but rather which food outperforms others in the state as compared to the national average”
I’m surprised there wasn’t any Thai or Indian food. It’s excellent!
Define Southern. In Eastern North Carolina it’s vinegar based pork barbeque.
