A series of bombings across Afghanistan Saturday killed at least 20 people, including eight children.

In the first incident in southern Kandahar province, a roadside bomb ripped through a vehicle, killing 15 people. Local authorities said most of those killed in the attack were children.

In eastern Laghman province, police investigating an explosion were hit by a second bomb. Two police officers were killed and nine people were wounded.

Elsewhere in eastern Afghanistan, police say a suicide bomber killed at least three people, including the chief of an Afghan commando unit, in Khost province. At least 12 people were wounded in the attack outside a police headquarters.

NATO forces in Afghanistan joined Afghan President Hamid Karzai in condemning the bombings.

Also Saturday, NATO said that two of its servicemembers died in southern and northern Afghanistan. The first soldier was killed an insurgent attack, while the other died as a result of a non-battle related injury in the north.
