Pakistan police say a suicide bomber blew himself up Monday at a bank in the Pakistan capital, Islamabad, killing one person. Police say the attacker detonated his explosives during an encounter with a security guard.
Earlier Monday Pakistani security officials said a roadside bomb blast killed three Pakistani soldiers in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.
Officials say at least three other soldiers were wounded in the explosion in the Ladha area of the South Waziristan tribal region – Pakistan's main stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida-linked militants.
Militants have launched a number of attacks against Pakistani security forces following the May 2 killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces.
