Afghan army officials say at least 32 militants and four Afghan soldiers have been killed in fighting in the country's west.

Three others soldiers were wounded in clashes Sunday in Badghis province.

In southern Afghanistan, NATO says of two of its soldiers were killed Sunday, one in a bomb attack, the other in an insurgent attack.

A limited withdrawal of foreign troops is expected to begin in July, ahead of a planned transition of responsibility to Afghan security forces due to be completed by the end of 2014.
