U.S. stocks were mixed at closing Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was a fraction of a percent higher to close at 11,953.
The S&P 500 also rose a fraction of a percent to 1,272. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped two tenths of one percent to 2,640.
European stock markets closed with small gains.
London's Financial Times 100 index rose one tenth of one percent to 5,773. The Paris CAC-40 index finished up one tenth of a percent at 3,808. Frankfurt's DAX index rose two tenths of one percent to close at 7,085.
Earlier in Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index closed down nearly one percent at 9,448. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index finished up four tenths of one percent at 22,508.
Gold closed at $1,515.10 per ounce, down from $1,528.60 on Friday.
The dollar was lower against the euro and the yen.
