U.S. stock market indexes rose in Tuesday's early trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced nine-tenths of one percent, and both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ indexes gained about 1.1 percent.
European stock markets were higher in afternoon trading. London's Financial Times 100 index gained six-tenths of a percent, the CAC-40 in Paris moved up 1.3 percent, and the DAX in Frankfurt jumped 1.7 percent.
Earlier in Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 1.1 percent to finish at 9,548. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost one-tenth of a percent to finish the day's trading at 22,496.
The price of gold fell less than $1 to trade at $1,515.10 an ounce.
The dollar was higher against the yen but lost value compared to the euro.
