Internet search engine giant Google has added five languages from the Indian subcontinent to its language translation service.

Google announced Wednesday that Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu have been added to Google Translate, bringing to 63 the number of languages supported by the online service. The service already supported Hindi, India's national language.

More than 500 million people in India and Bangladesh speak these five languages.

A Google researcher said users can for a time expect translations for the new languages to be less fluent and include many untranslated words.
