Asian Markets Close Mostly Higher

Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Friday.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nine-tenths of a percent , to close at 9,679.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index jumped 1.90 percent , to end at 22,172.

Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Shanghai, Seoul, Sydney, Mumbai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila. Markets closed lower in Taipei and Wellington.

The U.S. dollar was quoted at 80.19 yen, down three-tenths of a yen from late Thursday.

Gold was trading at $1,519.45 an ounce.
