A lawyer for the former editor of Playboy Indonesia says the country's Supreme Court has overturned his client's indecency conviction on appeal.

Erwin Arnada has been imprisoned since last October on a two-year sentence for publishing pictures of scantily-clad women.

Arnada's lawyer says his client is expected to be released Friday. He was not told why the appeal was granted.

When the now-defunct magazine hit the stands in 2006, a hard-line Muslim group attacked its editorial offices and filed the criminal complaint against Arnada.
