The Pakistani Taliban said Sunday a husband and wife carried out a suicide attack on a police station in the northwest that killed at least 10 people and wounded five others.
The pair, armed with rifles, hand grenades and suicide vests, entered the police station in the town of Kolachi Saturday pretending they were there to lodge a complaint. Once inside, they triggered a clash with security forces that lasted several hours and eventually blew themselves up.
At least 17 police officers were on duty at the time of the attack.
The Pakistani Taliban has vowed retaliation for the May 2 killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden by U.S. special forces in northern Pakistan and routinely attacks security targets.
Kolachi is located near the volatile South Waziristan tribal region — a known stronghold for the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups.
