Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Monday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index dropped one percent to close at 9,578.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell six-tenths of a percent to end at 22,042.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Taipei, Seoul, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Wellington and Manila. Markets closed higher in Shanghai and Mumbai.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 80.75 yen, up three-tenths of a yen from late Friday.
Gold was trading at $1,501.07 an ounce.
