The United Nations World Food Program says it is cutting food assistance to millions of people in Afghanistan because of a shortage of funds from donor nations.
The agency said Monday instead of 7 million people, the agency can afford to feed only 3.8 million Afghans.
A WFP spokesman said the U.N. agency will focus on providing food assistance to Afghanistan's most needy, especially women and children.
The WFP needs an additional $220 million to continue its work at the level originally planned.
