Asia Markets Close Mostly Higher

Major Asian stock markets closed higher Tuesday.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly three-quarters of one percent to finish at 9,649.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose nearly one-tenth of one percent to finish the day's trading at 22,062.

Share prices were also higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington, but lower in Seoul.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.82, a loss of a fraction of a yen from Monday.

Gold is trading at $1,502.06 an ounce.
