At least 14 people are dead in the southern Philippines after heavy rains triggered flash flooding on the island of Mindanao.

Authorities said Wednesday that 15,000 families in five villages in Davao city had to be evacuated as their homes were inundated by the flood waters. Many of those killed were children.

At least 10 other people are missing.
