Britain's Prince William and his wife Catherine are traveling Thursday to Canada to begin their first overseas tour as a married couple.
The 10-day trip begins in the capital, Ottawa, where the couple is scheduled to take part in a wreath laying ceremony at a war memorial, then attend a welcome ceremony and a barbecue reception.
The tour includes planned stops in eight Canadian cities, as well as a two-day visit to the United States.
The couple's itinerary includes a range of events, including a cooking workshop, a search and rescue demonstration and a parade.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has called the tour a testament to the close ties between Canada and the royal family. Canada is part of the Commonwealth with Britain's Queen Elizabeth as its sovereign.
The couple were married in April.
