Indian officials have found a hidden treasure worth billions of dollars in a temple in southern India.
The diamonds, emeralds, and gold and silver coins and figurines were found in underground vaults in the temple, which was the royal chapel of the former rulers of Travancore, in southern Kerala state.
Hundreds of armed police were deployed around the 16th-century temple and metal detectors were set up at the entrance after the first reports of the treasure were leaked Saturday.
State officials said the treasure has an estimated preliminary worth of over $11.2 billion.
