U.S. stocks were mixed at closing Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell one tenth of one percent to 12,570. The S&P 500 was also down one-tenth of one percent to 1,338, while the Nasdaq Composite index rose nearly four-tenths of one percent to 2,826.
European stock prices closed mixed. London's Financial Times index rose one-tenth of a percent to end at 6,024. The CAC-40 in Paris slid six-tenths of a percent to finish at 3,979. The DAX index in Frankfurt slipped less than one-tenth of a percent to close at 7,439.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly one-tenth of one percent to 9,972. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost one-tenth of one percent to finish the day's trading at 22,748.
Gold closed at $1,512.30 per ounce, up $30 from Monday.
The dollar was higher against the yen and the euro.
