A Congolese passenger plane has crashed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 48 people.
Government officials say at least 53 people survived the crash, which occurred while the plane was trying to land in bad weather.
It is not clear how many people were on board the plane when it went down while approaching the international airport at Kisangani Friday. Officials, however, say there are more people who are still unaccounted for.
Officials said the Boeing 727 was flown by the Hewa Bora airline.
Congo has one of the world's worst air safety records. The country has few passable roads, so air and river travel are often the only viable options for long distance journeys.
