Asian stock markets closed lower Monday. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped seven-tenths of a percent to close at 10,070. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 1.69 percent , to end at 22,343. 11 Bangladeshi Students Killed in Crash

Bangladesh police say at least 11 school children were killed and dozens more are feared dead after their bus crashed into a roadside ditch Monday. Officials say the students were returning from a football match when the accident happened outside the southeastern city of Chittagong.

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped seven-tenths of a percent to close at 10,070. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 80.78 yen, up a tenth of a yen from late Friday. Gold was selling for $1,545.48 an ounce.
