Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reshuffled his cabinet Tuesday in a move aimed at tackling allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

No major changes were made to the government's top ministries such as finance, defense, foreign affairs and home affairs.

Environment minister Jairam Ramesh was moved to the rural development ministry. Ramesh made waves after halting a series of construction and mining projects over environmental concerns.

Mr. Singh, meanwhile, named Milind Deora to the beleaguered telecommunications ministry, which saw its last two ministers resign over allegations of corruption related to the 2008 sale of cellular licenses.

Veerappa Moily was replaced as law minister by Salman Khursheed. Moily will now head the corporate affairs ministry.

Also, Dinesh Trivedi was appointed to the railways ministry after former minister Mamata Banerjee resigned in May to become chief minister of West Bengal state.
