European Stocks Mixed in Midday Trading

European stock prices are mixed in midday trading Wednesday.

London's Financial Times index is down less than one-tenth of one percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is down just over one-tenth of a percent, while the DAX index in Frankfurt is up three-tenths of one percent.

In New York, the S&P futures contract is up seven points, indicating a higher opening.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly four-tenths of one percent to finish at 9,963.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up 1.2 percent to finish the day's trading at 21,927.

Gold is trading at $1,574.19 an ounce.

The dollar is mixed in trading against other major currencies.
