Mild Losses on Japan’s Nikkei Index

Japanese markets closed lower Thursday, while the U.S. dollar is higher against the Japanese yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei index lost just over one-quarter of one percent to finish at 9,936.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 79.00 yen, a gain of a fraction of a yen from Wednesday.

The Taipei market closed at 8,481, loss of a fraction of one percent .
