Pro-reform demonstrators in Jordan clashed Friday with police and government supporters.

The unrest erupted in the capital, Amman, after hundreds of people took to the streets where they urged the government to meet their demands for change.

Witnesses say government supporters confronted the group and then police moved in wielding batons, apparently to stop the demonstrators from marching.

They say at least 10 people were wounded in the confrontations.

In June, Jordan's King Abdullah announced some concessions in an apparent bid to meet the demands of demonstrators.

He said he would pursue reforms that would allow the formation of future governments that were based on an elected parliamentary majority.
