U.S. stock market indexes rose in Friday’s early trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced almost four-tenths of a percent. The S&P 500 rose half a percent. And the NASDAQ gained six-tenths of a percent.
European stock markets were mixed in afternoon trading. London’s Financial Times 100 index gained two-tenths of a percent. The CAC-40 in Paris lost one-tenth of a percent. And the DAX in Frankfurt jumped almost half a percent.
Earlier in Asia, In Asia, Tokyo’s Nikkei index gained four-tenths of a percent ((38 points)), to close at 9,974. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index lost three-tenths of a percent ((65 points)), to end at 21,875.
The price of gold fell almost $3 to trade at $1,584.35 an ounce.
The dollar was higher against the yen and the euro.
