Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader was extradited from Austria back to Croatia Monday to face charges of corruption.

Croatian police met him at the Austrian border and drove him to a prison in Zagreb.

Austrian police arrested him in December after the Croatian parliament lifted his immunity from prosecution.

Mr. Sanader faces several charges including money laundering and stealing funds from government-owned companies. He denies the charges and calls himself the victim of political opponents.

Mr. Sanader was Croatian prime minister from 2004 until 2009.
