Asian Markets Mostly Lower

Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Monday.

Tokyo's Nikkei index dropped eight-tenths of a percent to close at 10,050.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell seven-tenths of a percent to end at 22,293.

Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Wellington. Markets ended higher in Mumbai, Bangkok and Manila.

The U.S. dollar was quoted at 78.10 yen, down four-tenths of a yen from late Friday.

Gold was trading at $1,620.48 an ounce.
