Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Tuesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained almost one-half of a percent to close at 10,098.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose one and one-quarter percent to end at 22,572.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. Markets ended lower in Mumbai, Bangkok, Wellington and Manila.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 78.06 yen, down almost one-quarter of a yen from late Monday.
Gold was trading at $1,611.10 an ounce, down from Monday's record highs.
