Asian Markets Rise as Dollar Sinks

Asian stock markets were mostly higher in trading Tuesday.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained almost one-half of a percent to close at 10,098.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose one and one-quarter percent to end at 22,572.

Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Shanghai, Sydney and Taipei. Markets dipped in Wellington and Manila.

The dollar was selling at 78.05 yen in currency trading, down one-quarter of a yen from late Monday.
