North Korea's official news agency says the country unanimously approved state-endorsed leaders during local elections held across the country Sunday.
The Korean Central News Agency says that 99.97 percent of eligible voters turned up to vote, without a single person voting against any of the registered candidates.
Over 28,000 representatives were elected across provincial, city and county levels.
The agency says the unanimous election results revealed the “single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks and the advantages of Korean-style socialism.”
Local assemblies typically meet once or twice a year to discuss local budgets and law enforcement measures, as well as to endorse state-selected leaders.
