Officials in Tajikistan say police have killed one militant and wounded another from a group that escaped from prison nearly a year ago.
Authorities said Tuesday one policeman was also killed and two others wounded in a clash with the militants Monday near the Afghan border.
The militants were part of a group of 25 inmates who last August broke out of a prison in the capital, Dushanbe. Authorities say the inmates killed at least five prison guards during the escape.
Police have recaptured 16 of the fugitives and killed at least seven others.
