U.S. stock indexes ended Tuesday's trading on a downward slide.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off more than seven-tenths of one percent to close at 12,501, while the S&P 500 was down four-tenths of a percent at 1,332. The NASDAQ composite index fell one-tenth of a percent to 2,840.
Stocks ended mixed in Europe.
London's Financial Times index finished ahead one-tenth of a percent to close at 5,930. The CAC 40 in Paris ended down seven-tenths of one percent to finish the day's trading at 3,788, while the DAX index in Frankfurt ended up a tenth of a percent to finish at 7,350.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained almost one-half of a percent to close at 10,098. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose one-and one-quarter percent to end at 22,572.
Gold was trading at $1,616.60 an ounce, up from $1,612 on Monday.
The dollar traded lower against both the euro and the yen.
