A wildfire that has consumed almost 6,000 hectares of rugged land in the western U.S. state of California is being blamed on arson.
Fire officials in the southern part of the state refused to release any additional information about the cause of the blaze, which started July 21 on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation.
More than 2,100 firefighters, along with aircraft, have been fighting the flames as they spread over the steep and rocky ground.
As of late Wednesday, officials said the blaze had done almost $12 million in damage. It was 65 percent contained.
Officials said several firefighters had been injured but no deaths have been reported.
