Spokesmen for striking South African gold miners and the companies they work for said Friday talks were set to resume on Monday. Neither side offered details on the current status of wage negotiations.
The miners are demanding a 14 percent pay raise while they have been offered seven to nine percent raises.
Thousands of miners from AngloGold, Ashanti, Gold Fields, Harmony and several smaller mines left their jobs on Thursday.
At least one mine official says he intends to scale back production if the strike is not resolved.
South Africa is one of the world's leading gold producers.
