Germany has released a plane belonging to Thailand's crown prince that was seized as surety for an outstanding Thai government debt.

A court official confirmed the release of Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's Boeing 737 jet, saying the Thai government had paid the court-ordered bond.

The plane was impounded at the Munich airport on July 12 in connection to a 20-year old dispute involving a German construction company. The construction firm says it was not paid for construction of a roadway connecting Bangkok and the city's Don Muang airport.

The seizure of the jet caused diplomatic strain between Thailand and Germany.
