Israeli officials say a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit southern Israel late Thursday.
Officials say the rocket landed in an uninhabited portion of the Negev desert and did not cause any injuries or damage.
At least five missiles or bombs have been launched from the Palestinian territory into Israel during the past week. There have been no reported casualties.
The Gaza-Israel border had seen several months of relative calm following a flare up in April that left 19 Palestinians dead after Israel launched airstrikes in retaliation for a rocket attack that struck an Israeli school bus.
Separately, Palestinian officials say a member of the military wing of Hamas died in a mysterious accidental explosion early Thursday in the southern Gaza town of Rafah. Officials say the man was a member of the al-Qassam Brigades group.
Hamas security forces are investigating the cause of the explosion.
