Royal Dutch Shell says it is working to contain an oil leak at its Gannet Alpha drilling Platform in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland.

The company Friday said the leak was coming from a pipe, but did not say how much oil may have escaped. A spokesperson was quoted as saying further measures are being taken to isolate the leak.

Shell also says a remote-controlled vehicle has been deployed to the location. The platform is located east of Aberdeen, Scotland and is operated in partnership with oil giant Exxon Mobil.
