Rescuers looking for a young female Japanese student who was swept over Niagara Falls Sunday have instead found the body of an unidentified man.
Canadian and U.S. authorities say they are working to identify the man and that the two incidents are unrelated.
Police say the Japanese student was on the Canadian side of the falls. She climbed over the rail and straddled it apparently to get a closer look at the river. They say she tumbled into the rushing water when she tried to climb back. Police say she is presumed drowned and that no foul play is suspected.
Niagara Falls is a series of extremely powerful waterfalls that form the border between the United States in New York and Canada in Ontario. It is one of North America's most popular tourist sites.
