Afghan officials say militants have attacked a supply depot near an international military base in southern Afghanistan, killing at least three people.
Kandahar provincial spokesman Zalmai Ayubi said insurgents armed with explosives Monday stormed the compound operated by Netherlands-based Supreme Group, which supplies fuel to the military. The compound is near the main foreign base in Kandahar.
Meanwhile in the east, militants attacked a government center in in the Qarabagh district of Ghazni province, triggering a gunbattle that killed one police officer and wounded three civilians.
Police say four militants were also killed as security forces repelled Monday's assault on district government offices.
The fighting comes the day after six suicide bombers attacked the compound of the governor of Parwan province, killing 22 people.
Taliban militants claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack.
Insurgents have been increasingly targeting Afghan government officials in recent months.
