Asian stock markets closed mixed in Tuesday trading.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained two-tenths of one percent to close at 9,107.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost a quarter of one percent to end at 20,212.

Elsewhere, markets were higher in Manila and Wellington. The markets in Taipei, Shanghai and Sydney closed lower.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.83 yen, unchanged from late Monday.
