U.S. stock indexes fell in early trading Friday, mirroring more losses on Asian and European markets.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down nine-tenths of one percent, while the broader S & P 500 index is off eight-tenths of a percent. The NASDAQ is down seven-tenths of a percent.
In afternoon trading in Europe, stock indexes are dropping again, but not by as much as they did on Thursday.
London's Financial Times 100 index is down 1.7 percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is off 2 percent. The DAX in Frankfurt is down 3 percent.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index dropped two-and-a-half percent , to close at 8,719.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 3.1 percent , to end at 19,400.
Gold was trading up $33.53 at $1,857.43 an ounce.
The U.S. dollar slipped against both the yen and euro.
